CNEU Teaching Cleanroom

The Center for Nanotechnology Education and Utilization (CNEU) has a teaching cleanroom constructed for, and dedicated to, delivering a hands-on nanotechnology synthesis, fabrication, and characterization experience for students.

This teaching cleanroom is used in conjunction with the Penn State Nanofabrication Facility, a National Science Foundation National Nanotechnology Infrastructure Network (NNIN) hub, to give students from community colleges from all over Pennsylvania the six-course, core skill set exposure in all aspects of nanotechnology.

In addition to its workforce teaching role, the CNEU cleanroom facility is used as a “laboratory” in which CNEU evaluates new equipment for teaching and also develops both its in-lab and remote, web-accessible, learning experiences for the Nanotechnology Applications and Career Knowledge (NACK) Network. The teaching cleanroom is also used in the NACK hands-on workshops attended by educators from across the country.

This educational cleanroom includes 500 square feet of laboratory space and 1,000 square feet of class 100,000 cleanroom space.

Visit the CNEU website to learn more about the teaching cleanroom.
